Oh. My. God.
You know when you look at a problem over. And over. And over. And over.
And you keep getting the same (wrong) answer.
And then you show it to someone else to try to get help, and you explain what's going on to them.
And then the obviousness of the correct answer hits you in the face, and you feel like a dyslexic idiot?
Yeah... WTF, self.
Anyways. Moving on. At least now I know I understand the material enough to take the unit test.

I don't know if it has a name, but we have the same exact thing in programming.

Stuff doesn't work, it doesn't work, you try and debug the hell out of it but it doesn't work and you have no idea why, so while it has all 1495193 debug statements in there still printing to help, you go ask some coworker to help you figure it out, and run the thing while he watches.

Just because he's standing there by your chair, you suddenly see exactly what's wrong and it's a "oh. yes. Actually, I see it now, don't need help anymore, I see exactly where I was an idiot here" moment :)

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Or sometimes, similarly, the thing just works on its own (not likely in either of our examples, but still). Someone in [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles said I should name it the Riememerann Corollary.
