Chinese =/= Japanese
Mar. 30th, 2009 11:23 amDear Google:
I told you to give me English, Japanese, and German results. So please stop giving my Chinese results. Especially pages of them, with only about 5% of returns being Japanese.
*sighs*
To be fair, I suppose it's possible Google only looks at the URL's "extension" (whatever you call that), so if it ends in .com or .org, that's considered English.
Alright, off to clean up after the... no, not Frickadellen, wth are they called... With chickpeas... Falafels! After the falafels Dad made last night. And do whatever other cleaning that needs doing. It's a mess in there. ^^; I suppose one of these weeks I should sweep, mop, and wipe down the bathroom, too. We'll see how I'm feeling after I finish with the kitchen.
Oh, and to
eurohybrid62, I finished downloading Gundam 00 (S1), and am through episode 5 now. S2's downloading right now.

Date: 2009-03-30 06:36 pm (UTC)The best trick I found to get around it though? Just add は to the search, just alone by itself. Pretty much any Japanese page is guaranteed to have at least one は on it, and Chinese ones won't.
Of course that's only when the actual search TERM is Japanese (usually my case) and I'm just trying to get rid of the Chinese results.
Something else annoying from my POV is the google search bar thing in Firefox (that just comes with firefox) in Japanese firefox is hard-coded to return results in Japanese only, so if I put an English word in there to search I get crap results. On the returned page, of course, I can click the "from all the web" box and resubmit, but... I'm lazy. Setting my home page to google makes it easier to just use regular google and ignore the handy search box thing though :)
