I found this in my J-List newsletter this morning:
Japan's political world was shocked at the arrest of the top aide to Democratic Party of Japan head Ichiro Ozawa over improper political contributions. At a press conference this morning Ozawa defended his aide, calling the contributions in line with the limits set by campaign law and vowing to beat the allegations. While he talked a good fight, it's likely the news will affect the DPJ's chances of winning a majority in both houses in the upcoming election, which will no doubt lead to more deadlock and other problems for the nation.
Of course, with all the Japan Considered (a podcast analyzing recent political news in Japan with regard to probably long-term effect) episodes I've been listening to lately (about 3 20-minute episodes a day), I immediately imagined the Robert C. Angel's (the podcaster) voice reading this aloud.
Which reminds me, how do you handle situations like "John's (my friend)"? "John's (my friend's)"? "John (my friend's)"?
Anyways, it seems that I won't be going in to work today. Which is good.
