The good news: the person who picked up my bag contacted me about it.
Bad news: he contacted me to demand a reward.
Worse news: I accidentally deleted his voice mail, so now I don't have his phone number to contact him, and it's not showing up on the T-Mobile website.
Other bad news: lost my bus pass within hours of buying it today.

[EDIT: I just finished getting my check card and campus cards deactivated and got a stop placed on my last batch of checks. I also asked the Minneapolis police for advice about how to handle the situation, and they said I should call ahead of time to have a squad come with me when (if?) I meet with the person just to be safe. Now I just have to hope that he'll call again.]

Unbelievable.

The fact that he wanted money or the fact that she deleted his number? It's the second I'm really struggling with. Couldn't you at least use like *69 or something?

Honestly, if you end up meeting this guy, the police option sounds good, but if they're obvious, he may not show. Although, it does sound better than the alternative security, meaning your friends (myself very much included) with baseball bats.

I'm sorry, the entire thing is unbelievable. Why you would not have your bag on your person after dark ANYWHERE is beyond me. Especially when it could very well have over $1000 of stuff in it. Like, that's just totally ridiculous. (Sorry Nastassja, but I just don't understand. Like, I'm trying. I really am. But I can't.)

I mean, the whole situation was completely avoidable, the fact that she deleted the voicemail is ridiculous, and the fact that she lost her bus pass is just beyond me.

I'm sorry that this is like the most assholish comment I think I've /EVER/ written, and Nastassja will probably de-friend me because she thinks I hate her or whatever, but this is the hard truth, this whole situation has been a long, LONG time coming.

Just a note, but I don't find that comment to be assholish or anything.

I feel bad for telling it like it is and laying it on really thick... but at the same time I hope that if I'm so brutally honest it might force you to change at least /ONE/ of your habits that has caused you so much frustration, financial, temporal, and otherwise, over the past few years I've known you.

Honestly, not to try to "bail out" or anything, but I think something's thrown me off recently. In the last week I've lost an inordinate number of things, and I find it sort of hard to call it a coincidence.
Also, about the voice mail, if it makes any more sense, I was trying to make a note of the number into my phone while the voice mail was playing (I didn't know if it would work, but I thought I'd give it a try). Lucky me the number started with "7". I mean, it's still stupid, but that's what happened.

And there's no way to recover voicemail with T-Mobile? I can't imagine your data isn't floating out there /somewhere/.

I tried. The number didn't show in caller ID because the phone was off when they called (I was at work), then I tried *69 and I got a message that I needed to call customer service to user that service. I called and they said to have the account holder look online, and it wasn't there either, I assume having something to do with the whole phone being off thing. I called T-Mobile one more time to find out if there's any way to find out a number that called while it was off, and they said it was impossible. *headdesk*
