2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz

I'm actually a bit surprised... I really wasn't expecting ALL of my top candidates to be democrats.

(BTW, I'm so uninformed about politics that literally the ONLY reason I prefer Clinton or Obama are, well, for the reasons you'd imagine. Thank goodness Minnesota doesn't have a presidential primary, or I'd be in real trouble.)

I was going to go to the library today, since I knew it was closed Monday and I believed it was closed Tuesday, but I was feeling really lazy (no surprise there) and didn't want to. But when I checked the hours on the website, it turns out they're closed Sunday and Monday, so I don't have to go until Tuesday. Whee! (Of course, I'll probably be feeling lazy then too.)

I guess I really have nothing more to say.

Oh, I'm sure that Minnesota does have a presidential primary. It's just not one of the early ones. It's later, when the candidates have practically already been selected. :)

Yeah, I think you're right - I guess it's just one I don't have to feel guilty for not voting in. (I'd rather not vote than vote uninformed, and when it comes to actual elections I just vote along party lines.)

In my mind I think it would be cool to have a Female or someone of a different race in the presidential office, but it turns out my views mostly coincide with those of Dennis Kucinich, (with Hillary Clinton a close second) so I feel it's my duty to vote with the issues rather than what would "be cool".

You never have to feel guilty afterwards if you vote for someone who matches you closely, but if you're voting for silly reasons like "I like this person's face", then that's sort of unreasonable.

I 100% agree with you, but as I said, I know basically nothing about any of their platforms, and also, as I said in my comment to [livejournal.com profile] tiwonge, I'd rather not vote at all than vote uninformed. I suppose I feel comfortable enough voting on actual presidential and gubernatorial elections only because I know basic party platforms and can vote along party lines, although I'd like to eventually be a politically responsible enough citizen that I no longer have to resort to that and can actually vote for the candidate I support the most.

Actually, Minnesota has a caucus, not a primary. It's on Feb. 5th, like most states.
But now that I'm in wisc., i get a primary and not til feb. 19th.... yay

well, it doesn't take long to do a bit of research about your best matches on the internets. I use wikipedia and other articles.

Or you can Google candidates' names and look up the basic run-downs of their campaign platforms on their websites. I started doing that for candidates I liked.

Though I have to admit, it was videos of Obama's speeches that finally won me over on him - the guy seems genuine, unlike the other realistic potential Democratic candidates. Plus he's a magnetic speaker. I might actually go to a caucus to listen to him, and for someone to inspire that much political interest in me is weird.

Quiz says Edwards. Good, exactly what I'd been thinking:

88% John Edwards
85% Chris Dodd
85% Dennis Kucinich
84% Mike Gravel
83% Barack Obama
80% Hillary Clinton
79% Joe Biden
73% Bill Richardson
44% Rudy Giuliani
33% John McCain
28% Tom Tancredo
26% Mitt Romney
25% Mike Huckabee
19% Ron Paul
16% Fred Thompson

a primary is like a regular election, a caucus is a bunch of people getting together trying to convince each other who to vote for.
