I can't read katakana, apparently. I've been transcribing カンタービレ (KANTAABIRE) as KANTABIIRU for... Too long. And then I noticed that it's re, not ru, but continued to think it was KANTABIIRE.
WTF, Nastassja. I thought you were a third year?

Yah. But I figure if they wanted it to be the... Italian?... word cantabile, they would have written it in roomaji. I have a bunch of weird personal rules I use in transliteration that I know some people want to smack me upside the head for.

Where did you come across カンタービレ?

And again by ル I mean レ.

Oh, no doubt that it's "cantabile", then. Why should there be in difference in whether an English word or an Italian word would be presented in romaji in the original rather than katakana? They're both just as foreign to a Japanese speaker.

Oh, I never said it wasn't "cantbile". It's just... I fancy there being a line between what was once a foreign word but is now integrated properly into Japanese, which is written in katakana, and a word that is either still a totally foreign word (like, I don't know, monkey), or a word that has been integrated into Japanese but the author (or whatever) is going for the word that's actually in the original language, intended to be pronounced that way if the reader (or whatever) knows how to, rather than in katakana-speech. If that makes any sense at all.
