tsukikage: (ヒカ碁 - HikaAki discuss)
Alright, I've decided I'm going to move on getting a new DVD player - my PS2 just can't handle far too many discs. So, I'm looking for suggestions and/or input. Here's what I've been thinking about so far:

- I'll probably get a Blu-Ray player, not because my TV (19", 720p) needs one, but:

--- they're starting to get cheap enough, especially if I get a refurbished one

--- we share the same region with Japan, so I don't have to watch any Japanese stuff I buy on my desktop (assuming I buy it on Blu-Ray)

--- US Blu-Ray discs often have awesome language options (I remember seeing a non-Japanese movie that had Japanese, German, and English audio all on the same disc)

--- I'd protect much of my collection from feeling the urge to upgrade from DVD to BD once I eventually do get a Bllu-Ray worthy TV

- I'd like a player that can stream from Netflix (possibly YouTube?), but truth be told I only have wireless in my bedroom, and being two floors up from the router my signal's not the best

- I also see that there are players that can connect wirelessly to your computer and play anything from there - that might be a valuable alternative, as it'd let me play YouTube and Netflix videos as well as anything I downloaded that Yotsuba can handle

- Then again, I wouldn't be able to watch any Blu-Ray discs on DVD players or lend them out to people without Blu-Ray players, but that'd only be a problem for future purchases, and not even all of those as many anime don't even come out on Blu-Ray yet.

So, yes, thoughts?

Gotta be at work in 96 minutes. Boo.
