post break
May. 3rd, 2007 10:34 pmMmm, today's been frustrating. I mean, it was fine until the end of my scheduled shift (around 3:45), when I was in the middle of cleaning the pineapple lines (rinse, soap, rinse, sanitize, let sit, rinse, start juice through again, calibrate - I really need to stop trying to start this process less than an hour before I leave) and I was trying to get to the ILES (Institute of Linguistics, English as a Second Language, and Slavic Languages and Literatures) office before they closed at 4:30, so I hurried to try to get that done, finishing at around 4:10, and then ran as fast as my out-of-shape body could take me to Nolte, only to find that I had to meet with the director in order to declare, and that she wasn't there. I then somewhat leisurely made my way back to Coffman to try to rinse and re-calibrate the pomegranate and raspberry lines which were clogged with seeds, and they were understaffed (only two people there, one who needed to leave soon) so they asked me to help. Fine - 仕方がないでしょ. Now, normally I deal with working past the time I was schedule for relatively well, but perhaps because I was running all over the place I started getting really crabby. But then after they were back to two other people and I just wanted to finish up and get out of there, they asked me to help juice the drinks, and I was just like... Guys, it's not like I'm staying here until X o'clock, and every minute I spend juicing or whatever is a minute later that I'm going to leave. Again, most of this was just me being crabby and deciding to have a bad day, but I really did get a bit snappy and terse. Finally left at 5:30 and hung out with
hampster_cowboy,
airisu, and Damon for a bit. Despite wanting to head home by 4:30 to work on my paper, I ended up catching the 2 at 8 o'clock.
On the plus side, I did get a really shiny book at Coffman today: Expressive Japanese: A Reference Guide for Sharing Emotion and Empathy by Senko K. Maynard. It sounds hokey, but it's really quite interesting. Now I just need to make sure not to read it until my finals and stuff are done. ><;
On the hours front, I picked up... 33.5, I think it added up to?... hours during finals week, and scheduled in such a way that leaves me a decent amount of time to study for my chapter 13 test and oral interview. (We went over the O.I. many times in class yesterday, so I have quite thorough notes, and am not terribly worried as long as I prepare properly over the weekend.) Also... One of my (many) managers today brought up with me that he's looking for people to work at the golf course on the St. Paul campus over the summer, and unless I misunderstood him it seems like I'll be able to pick up full-time hours. Yay for not having to rely on first-come first-served catering jobs!
Guh... I don't want to go to work tomorow. Here's to hoping I throw up in the morning so I can call in sick... (Yeah, I'm a freak, I know.)
