just about the test itself
Dec. 4th, 2006 10:32 pmOkay, I'll write more about the trip itself later (perhaps), but right now I'll just tell you all about the test itself.
One thing I realized all too late... The study book I've been spending most of the last month working with was using the old guidelines. And since it said that it contained all of the vocab on the official vocab list somewhere in the book, I figured after going through the book once I'd at least recognize all the words that'd show up on the test. Not to mention that the kanji list at the back of the book was out-of-date, too. (I really should have realized that much earlier.)
In any case, section one (vocab/kanji, 35 mins.) went fairly well. There were a few questions (4 or 5?) I had to make a blind stab or educated guess at, but I finished it with about 10 minutes to look over the test. I think I messed up on how to write 顔, though... ^^;
The listening section also went fairly well, although I definitely messed up on the line graph one. Also, there was one question where I ditzed out and didn't hear the question before they started the conversation, so I had to take notes as well as I could and hope I got the pertinent information. Then on the question about when it was okay to leave the classroom... Well, silly me assumed they'd actually say what time they could leave, so although I wrote down that they could leave 30 minutes after the test started... I didn't write down what time it started, so I basically guessed at that.
Grammar/reading was probably my best section this year. The section is 70 minutes, I finished it in about 25, looked over the test/tried not to fall asleep for 25, then napped for 20.
So, that was basically that. So now I get to relax for a couple months, at least until I get my level 3 results back and decide if I'm taking the 2 next year or not.
(I suppose if I am I'll have to decide early, since there's so much more to study, not to mention review of the level 4 and 3 material.)
