This is my story
Aug. 17th, 2005 10:51 pmI was walking home from a longer-than-expected day at Paradigm (10 hours!) and typing a text message to Patrick, trying to decide whether to tell him I would IM him when I got home, to my dorm, or to my apartment, when "Exodus '04" came on. I watched some guys playing frisbee on the mall, crossed the bridge over Washington, and went through Coffman. I could walk over to Coffman right now and study there if I wanted to, if only because I'm tired of my room. It feels so wonderful to know that the University of Minnesota is not just the school that I take classes at, but my home. I work here, I eat here, I study here, I hang out here, and at the end of a long day I sleep here.
If I can help it at all, I'm staying here. Centennial, Sanford, or Riverbend, this will be my home.
With you these streets are heaven
Now home feels so foreign
They told me I was mistaken, infatuated
And I was afraid to trust my hunches
Now I am ready
Daddy don't be mad that I'm leaving
Please let me worry about me
Mama don't you worry about me
This is my story
[Chorus:]
Through mountains high and valleys low
The ocean, through the desert, snow
We'll say goodbye to the friends we know
This is our Exodus '04
Through traffic jams in Tokyo
New music on the radio
We'll say goodbye to the world we know
This is our Exodus '04
Landscapes keep changing
History teaches something
I know I could be mistaken, but my heart has spoken
I cannot redirect my feelings
The waves have parted
Daddy don't be mad that I'm leaving
Please let me worry about me
Mama don't you worry about me
This is my story
[Chorus:]
Through mountains high and valleys low
The ocean, through the desert, snow
We'll say goodbye to the friends we know
This is our Exodus '04
Through traffic jams in Tokyo
New music on the radio
We'll say goodbye to the world we know
This is our Exodus '04
I'm listening to a music never ending
My baby don't you know I'll never let you down
You've opened me to so many different endings
But baby I know that you'll always be around
[Chorus:]
Through mountains high and valleys low
The ocean, through the desert, snow
We'll say goodbye to the friends we know
This is our Exodus '04
Through traffic jams in Tokyo
New music on the radio
We'll say goodbye to the world we know
