tsukikage: (priceless)
As usual, there's lots to say.
I called Dad from work today and told him about school. He didn't sound happy, but that's to be expected. I'm still really depressed about not going to Rushing River with Dad and Ann (and Alana?). I mean, I'm planning on taking May and summer classes throughout my college career, leaving me with basically no time off other than Winter vacation, so I probably won't... I don't want to finish that sentence.
But all going camping this year would do is delay the inevitable, and this class is really, really important to me. I think I made the right decision.

On the job front, I think I posted about my hiring with Parking and Transportation, which, if I remember right, I'm scheduled to train for on September 3rd. The job would be nice in that I'll basically be able to study the entire time, since all I'll be doing is taking people's money as they leave the lot. However, I want more responsibility than that. So, since I have a cushy job lined up already, I'm using the time before my training to apply to the handful of jobs I REALLY want: Coffman Bookstore, Paradigm (a place that prints course packets for University classes), and a lifeguarding position. I sent a resume in for the lifeguarding position a while ago, and only today received an e-mail back (more on that later). I turned in my Paradigm application yesterday (Thursday), and received a phone call today from the manager saying that he wanted to interview me, but he was going out of town for a month starting this weekend, and wouldn't be able to interview me until the week of July 25th.
Only downside to working at Paradigm would be that all employees are required to work 40 hours a week including weekends for the two weeks before and after each semester starts, but only 10-15 hours a week after that. In any case, the fact that I won't be interviewed for a month will give me a chance to be called by Coffman Bookstore (which I would love SO MUCH) for an interview. If I was interviewed and offered the job by Paradigm before Coffman even set up an interview, I'd have to take the Paradigm job. So, yeah, I'm turning my application in to Coffman Bookstore tomorrow. And finally, I finally got an e-mail back from the person I e-mailed about the lifeguarding position. She implied that they could hire me before I complete my AED certification ("we will have to sort that out"), but I'd have to wait to start guarding until I took a class and received my certification. But that's all right - at least they won't ignore me.

Which job do I want more? Coffman Bookstore or a U of M lifeguard? Let's focus on being offered a job first, though.

What else did I want to say? Umm... Well, whatever it is, it can wait until I'm not hanging out in Sandy's room and monopolizing her computer.
