job applications
Aug. 4th, 2004 03:01 amLong time no update.
I've been spending the past two days applying for jobs. On Thursday, when I first began, I was following my dad's advice by filing applications everywhere that wouldn't refuse. That left me quite tired and with little hope. Now what I'm doing is applying to all stores that have a "Help Wanted", or such, sign in front of them, and putting applications on file everywhere where I actually want to work. There's one place where both came true: Tea Source! They're hiring again! Apparently only PT, but if I'm hired maybe I can be promoted to FT. ^_^ One of the "skills" I listed on that app was "green tea fanatic".
There's also an oil place (kinda like perfume) that's opening soon on Lake Street. I saw someone setting up shelves in their last Thursday, and when I asked if they were hiring, they said to come back on Monday. I did, and we had what seemed like an informal interview, and I wrote down all my information on a post-it note, and he said he'd call me by the end of the week - YAY! Now, he implied that he's looking for part time work, but I assume that's mainly because he doesn't know how successful the store will be. I think I'd turn this down for Tea Source, or maybe even Barnes and Noble or Office Max (neither of which are hiring), but... This place ssems really cool! And insanely close! In any case, I hope it does well...
So, anyways... I was out from about 2 pm to 11 pm, and my dad seemed really distressed when I got home, even though I had left a message on the blackboard (which he saw). He was aggravated that I came home too late for him to talk with me, and when I told him that I just got back from applying for jobs, he said that I must've spent some time at a friends' house, because I couldn't have spent 9 hours filling out job applications. Well, I may have had lunch at LeeAnn Chin's, and I stopped by my mom's house on my way to Ford Parkway (around 9 pm, btw), but other than that... I was applying for jobs. Belieeeeve meeeee!
I've decided not to do any job applications tommow. My only tasks are these:
- return ALL library books
- if there are books I am unable to return (ie. from HPSHS), sort into bags and label
- return PSEO books to Coffman bookstore
- meet Mom at 4 pm for company picnic
- VISIT PATRICK
- AND, when all else is done, spend some time cleaning my room
Even on Friday, I'm probably going to skip the metro-area tour in favor of going through some job classifieds I picked up today. Maybe I can even figure out the FedEx Kinko's application! *gasp*
Anyways, I'm gonna go hit the sack. More when I get up.
