Attack of the killer insomnia!
Mar. 20th, 2004 03:14 amSo... It's 3:15 in the morning, Pacific time. I have insomnia. Might have something to do with that I took my new controlled substance at around nine last night. Just perhaps. ^^;
Damn, I'm hungry.
Oh, and before I forget, the lead singer of Lifehouse is so f-ing HOT! Must find piccies... And name. ^_^;
So, anyways. On with things.
I left on the... 13th... at 8:30 am. LONG bus ride, ignoring the fact that we got stuck overnight in Steele, North Dakota due to low visibility weather conditions. And that we blew all our antifreeze in the middle of nowhere and had two wait two-and-a-half hours for another bus to come get us, and then another half-hour to move our baggage and selves. w007.
Got to the Redding bus station 18 hours late (10 am on Tuesday). Took a while to get my baggage, since I lost my claim stubs. Had lunch at an Italian restaraunt with her and her mom. I was worried that her mom would think poorly of me for drinking pop (which has caffeine - a no-no for Mormons), but Jupiter said it'd be fine. Besides, she had pop as well. ^_^
I also had dinner and breakfast with her, though at home. Dinner was yummy, but... interesting. The discussion consisted mostly of how the meat was horrible (I was confused) and how their son would be happy with an F on his test. And other fun stuff... Her 'rents kind of remind me of my mom, but... different. And I think worse.
Jupi-chan has the COOLEST room, though. I mean, Scancy's is cooler in the architecture/furnishing department, but I LOVE JUPITER'S BED! SUGOI!!!!
Yeah, anyways. ^_^;
Jupi-chan showed me her "hidden" portion of her manga collection (a wallscroll is placed over it when not in use), and that night I had a dream that I was looking at it when her mom walked in and she saw it. Btw, Jupi-chan's mom knows she has lots of manga... just not THAT many. Jupi-chan says that if she found out she would either ask where she got that much money or why she wasted so much money. Heh heh. ^_^;
(But that's not the biggest secret. =P Again, GL!)
Anyways, played Kingdom Hearts (Hikki ga DAI~suki desu!), skipped ahead to the "interesting" part in Kare Kano ("bad" me =P), listened to an X soundtrack as well as Sailor Moon: Best Song Collection ("Kanashimi ga Ima SEERAA SUMAIRU!" hee hee ^_^), went to Jamba Juice (yay!), went to the mall, saw Jupi-chan in her gorgeous Asian-style dress, saw Shasta College, didn't meet Mr. Fiance, slept...
Then I left. :( But I had loads of fun.
So, I got to the bus station earlier than expected and took the earlier bus out. Which happened to also be an express bus. Got to the Seattle depot around 2 am, and the next bus for Vancouver left at 7:30. Yay, sleeping in the Greyhoud depot! But I suppose I had better sleep than I would have on the Greyhound itself. Would I?
Going through Canadian customs was fun... ><; On previous road trips to Canada with my family, all I needed was a photo ID (a high school ID sufficed), mainly to prove I was the driver's child and not someone they had abducted. Apparently I now need proof of citzenship, which my driver's permit does NOT provide. So I was near-thoroughly interrogated, and my story was checked with the hostel. Thankfully they let me through, as my 11 Canadian cents sitting on the table here shows. (digital-camera wantage!)
brb - wanna eat this yogurt I bought ^_^;
And done. ^_^
What else... Got to Vancouver around noon on Thursday. The Vancouver bus depot is SO nice. Probably 'cuz it's also the train depot. =P Arriving earlier in the day than previously planned, I was able to take the hostel's free shuttle rather than spend money on a taxi, so that made me happy. ^_^ (How many smilies am I going to use in this entry, anyway? ><; )
Hostel is very nice. Dorms are smaller than I expected, but my friendly dorm-mates more than make up for that. Almost had a Japanese dorm-mate, but it turned out she was in the wrong room (tipped off by the fact that her key card was letting her into everything but the dorm). I have a German dorm-mate though. Practice is always good. ^_^ And I don't feel like an utter fool speaking German, either; just an utter fool. =P
Visited campus yesterday. If I get in, I WILL go there. I don't care if I have to delay my entry into college until I can get permanent residency, but this IS where I'll go. This is where I want to come of age...
(I feel all Kiki-like. ^_^; )
What do I like so much about UBC? I'm still not really sure... BEAUTIFUL Japanese garden, free to students; Vancouver has almost as many Japanese restaraunts as McDonalds ^_^;... amazing rose garden (and I haven't even seen the blooms!), cherry blossoms; the ocean; wonderful aquatic center (indoor and outdoor); wonderful concert hall; strange-ass-acoustics installation (I'll explain if it's wanted); homeland of the Barenaked Ladies...
So, education-wise, I don't know. But to give you an idea of how full my heart feels right now... I think I could finally find God here.
For those of you who don't know, I'm currently atheistic in the sense that I have no belief in God, but I don't want to stay that way. Right now I just don't believe, like I don't believe I have a long-lost brother (Frances is not "long-lost").
And it seems that UBC does indeed have an anime club. From 5-10:15. ^_^
Perhaps perchance I should return to the hostel and bed? I'm no longer in a state of insomnia so much as in one of "I don't wanna sleep!". Been too long off the comp...
Gotta leave tonight (shoulda left yesterday). Suck. I wish I could call Patrick...
Surgery in T minus ten days. Ick.
Cuttage and postage!
