I keep trying to explain why I like the old FMA anime better than the new one, and I keep saying things like "the old one feels more like a cohesive, put-together story", but I'm realizing that's not what's going on at all. Really, the new FMA is quite the same that way - almost too much so. Like, without getting into too much detail, the last five-ish episodes have been pretty much the same thing continuing to be drawn out, like reading the same 35-page chapter of a book 5 pages at a time. If my memory serves me right, however, the first FMA... All the pieces tied together very nicely, and it felt like a very epic storyline, but those pieces were much more broken down. Maybe it comes down to the newer anime having fewer, much longer story arcs, and the old one being many smaller pieces neatly forming a whole?

I dunno, I'm talking out of my ass here. I know I'll be re-watching HagaRen once HagaRen:FA is over, but I also feel like to really compare the two I'd need to then re-watch HagaRen:FA, and that'd probably burn me out pretty badly. Maybe I'll just do my best without the beginning parts of HagaRen:FA being fresh in my mind.

Also, I miss Ling. :( Seriously, getting to meet him has been my favorite part of the new show, hands down.

Unrelatedly, does anyone else think that white rice does not refrigerate well? Seriously, whenever I make rice, I leave any leftovers out (though covered) and throw it away if I don't finish it the next day, rather than put it in the fridge.

[EDIT: Eee! Ling's a-comin' back!]
